The French Way crosses El Acebo de San Miguel along its main street. There is no detour to reach the village, and none to reach the hostel.

The stage
El Acebo sits on the stage of the French Way between Rabanal del Camino and Ponferrada, and it is the first village of El Bierzo as you descend from the Montes de León. From Manjarín it is about 6.8-7 km; from here to Riego de Ambrós, about 3.5-3.7 km.

How to get here
On foot, from the east
Foncebadón → Cruz de Ferro → Manjarín → El Acebo. From Manjarín a continuous mountain descent begins, fairly steep and over uneven ground.
On foot, from the west
Ponferrada → Campo → Molinaseca → Riego de Ambrós → El Acebo. From Riego de Ambrós you climb up to the village along the Camino itself. The Molinaseca town council also signposts a circular Riego - El Acebo - Riego route of about 9.3 km.
By car
Access is via the LE-142 road, which connects the Astorga and Monte Irago area with Ponferrada. From Ponferrada: towards Molinaseca → Riego de Ambrós → El Acebo. From Astorga: Rabanal del Camino → Foncebadón → Cruz de Ferro → Manjarín → El Acebo. It is a mountain road and, inside the village, the streets are narrow.
By public transport
El Acebo has no railway station and only limited direct public transport. The most practical option is to reach Ponferrada and continue by taxi or local transport, or to join the Camino at Molinaseca or Riego de Ambrós and walk the last stretch.
